　Thank you for downloading the short novel game "Red Shift".
　This is a piece without any choices or branching plot points.
　As these are all the efforts of one person -- from the art to
the writing to the scripting -- I can give you no unbiased
opinion about how good or bad it is.
　I hope you enjoy it; should you find any typographical errors
or bugs, please feel free to contact me.  For errors in the

□Installation and Play

Windows
-------
　After downloading RedShiftSetup[insani].exe, double-click on it
to launch the setup program.  After that, you should have
shortcuts on your Desktop and in your Start Menu that will launch
Red Shift.
　This piece does NOT require you to change your default ACP to
Japanese or use Microsoft AppLocale.

Mac OS X
--------
　After downloading RedShiftSetup[insani].dmg, the disk image
should automatically dearchive and leave a folder named "Red
Shift" on your Desktop.  Open this folder and double-click on the
"Red Shift" icon to launch the program.
　This version of ONScripter was explicitly built using gcc 3.3
and SDL 1.2.8 in order to provide compatibility for both G3-class
machines and for the newer Intel Macs (via Rosetta); however, as
we do not have G3's or Intel Macs, we have not tested how the
program functions on those platforms.

x86 Linux
---------
　Download and extract RedShiftSetup[insani].tar.bz2.  Head
into the resultant folder.  Run onscripter.

□Operating Instructions

　Left-clicking confirms choices and advances the text.
　Right-clicking opens the right-click menu.
　You are technically able to control this game using the keyboard,
but we do not recommend this.
　Holding down CTRL will enter you into Skip Mode.
　Pressing F will toggle you between windowed and fullscreen.
　
□A Note from the Translators

　This is insani's sixth doujin translation, internally code-named
"Project Polyphony".  It will become obvious why we gave this piece
this particular code name as you read it through.
　It also serves as our challenge to all translators who are
considering participation in al|together 2006.  The piece was
translated in a period of three weeks, one hour a day at most,
while the lead translator was working an ICU rotation that had
him in the hospital for over 100 hours a week.
　The cadenzas of the rain are, after all, the hands of women.
　We dare you to outdo us.
　And we look forward to seeing you out on the front lines of
al|together 2006 when it occurs.
　... or did you really, really believe that there exists only one
kind of polyphony in the world, and that Ichiro Sakaki lays sole
claim to it?

□Known Issues

- When exiting Log Mode, your current text window will not display
  properly.  However, when you click you will proceed to the next
  screen as per usual.  Furthermore, the first screen in Log
  Mode happens to *be* the current text window, making this a non-
  critical known issue.
- This release was done using onscripter-20060331-insani-exp; this
  is an EXPERIMENTAL branch that we have certified to work with
  this release only.  Please do not use this in your translation
  projects; wait for our next stable build instead.
- On Mac OS X, Skip Mode will not skip instantaneously while you
  are in windowed mode; this has to do with certain interactions
  between SDL and the OS X window server.  If you wish for
  instantaneous skip functionality, please play in fullscreen.
